This immersive three-day workshop is designed for hair and makeup professionals looking to deepen their expertise in Afro and textured hair. Combining theory, live demonstration, and hands-on practice, the course covers everything from the fundamentals of Afro hair through to advanced styling techniques.With a maximum of just 5 spaces per cohort, every participant benefits from a focused, personalised learning experience. Day 1 — Foundations of Afro Hair Morning (Theory) Hair anatomy, porosity, curl patterns, and growth behaviour Health and safety essentials Client consultation techniques Cultural awareness and sensitivity Product knowledge — moisturisers, leave-in conditioners, and styling products Manual styling and twist-out techniques for stretching and defining curls Afternoon (Practical) Hands-on practice using mannequin heads Sectioning, detangling, and correct preparation techniques Practising twist-out methods Finishing techniques — dressing out, defining styles, and setting Group Q&A and feedback session Day 2 — Styling Techniques Morning (Theory & Demonstration) Protective styling — braids, cornrows with and without extensions. adding hair, safe attachment methods, and synthetic vs human hair Afternoon (Practical) Hands-on practice — braiding, twisting, and cornrows on mannequin heads and live models Individual coaching and feedback Day 3 — Advanced Styling & Assessment Morning (Theory & Demonstration) Styling Afro hair for professional and creative settings Understanding how Afro hair is represented across different industries Contemporary and culturally-informed styling inspiration Working with synthetic hair Live demonstration — blow-drying, diffusing, heat control, and maintaining hair health Hair wrapping and updo styling techniques Afternoon (Practical & Assessment) Styling on live models and/or mannequin heads Creating set styles based on a client brief — real-world simulation Troubleshooting common challenges — shrinkage, breakage, blending, and frizz Final presentation of work Aftercare guidance and take-home advice
