Day 1 –
Foundations Of Afro Hair
Morning (Theory):

Introduction & welcome, course goals

Hair anatomy: structure, porosity, curl types, growth patterns

Health & safety, consultation best practices (including cultural sensitivity)

Product knowledge: moisturisers, leave-ins, styling products, synthetic hair
Afternoon (Practical):

Hands-on: working with mannequin heads – sectioning, detangling & prep

Demonstration: blow-drying / diffusing afro hair safely (including heat precautions)

Day 2 –
Styling Techniques
Morning (Theory + Demonstration):

Protective styling: braids, twists, two-strand twists, Bantu knots

Corn rows and cane-row technique, including base planning

Extensions: adding hair, safe attachment methods, synthetic vs human hair
Afternoon (Hands-On Practice):

Delegated practical time: students practice braiding, twisting, corn rows on mannequin / live models

Finishing techniques: dressing out, defining styles, setting
Day 3
– Advanced Styling + Industry Skills
Morning (Theory & Demo):

Styling for screen / media (film, TV, editorial): how Afro hair is used on set

Period and contemporary styling inspiration + cultural context

Working with synthetic hair and wig preparation
Afternoon (Practical + Assessment):

Styling real / mannequin hair: create set styles (client brief simulation)

Troubleshooting: dealing with common challenges (shrinkage, breakage, blending, frizz)

Certification / wrap-up: students present their work, discuss take-home aftercare, network
